Re-Entry Center - February 2023

Last night was live worship night at the the South Bend Community Re-entry Center.  This was my second month volunteering with our creative arts team to lead live worship with this group of men who are on the journey to re-establish their lives after jail. Last month, I was so touched to be part of this group and this month God continued to pour out the blessings from these men who are on fire for Jesus.

My friend Rebecca, whom I met back in 2020 was part of the team this month.  This was her first time and she came with the same questions and slight anxiety that I did last month of the unknown.  She quickly hit the ground running once we got there and did an excellent job leading a song.  Rebecca and I also had the pleasure to sing with one of our worship leaders Marta, whom I've been in church numerous times before when she lead worship.  It was such a pleasure to lead worship with the two.

Usually after a few songs and prayer, we watch the recorded service from the night before with the men.  Last night, there were some technical difficulties that didn't allow for us to watch it.  Instead, we ended up sharing testimonies.  Our host, Steven shared how he used to be a resident of the Re-Entry Center and talked about the challenges that can happen without a good support system once being released. I have gotten to know Steven. I sang with him in an Easter choir last year and also attended a Men's retreat with him in the fall. He is such a delight and I can see God continue to work in his life.

Another resident shared that this will be his last live worship night with us, because he gets released the day before we come next month.  His name is Eugene and was recently highlighted in a weekend service.  Check out his Video.  He also talked about needing a support system when gets out and how he plans to continue to attend church at GCC.  He is also excited to come to our Night of worship on March 28, which will be a couple days after he is released.

Others shared with us their favorite bible verse and what it means to them. So a mishap with the technology turned into a blessing which resulted in a time of sharing.  Marta even shared with us one of her original songs.  It was wonderful

I am so proud of these men and I will continue to pray for their journey.  God has blessed them and they have blessed me with their desire to follow Jesus.  I can't wait for next month!!
